FERMENTO 2nd edition at Torrita Di Siena on 13th of June
CRAFT BEER AND ARTISAN CHEESE TAKE CENTRE STAGE IN TORRITA DI SIENA WITH “FERMENTO. BEER AND CHEESE”
An event dedicated to local flavours is on its way: on Saturday, 13 June, tastings, live music and meetings with producers in the historic centre;
Tastings, live music, guided tours and meetings with producers. On Saturday, 13 June, “Fermento. Beer and Cheese” returns to Torrita di Siena, the event dedicated to the encounter between two artisan products of the local area which, in recent years, have won over an increasingly wide audience attentive to quality.
Now in its second edition, the initiative is promoted by the Strada del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano e dei Sapori della Valdichiana Senese and the Municipality of Torrita di Siena.
The latter will become a meeting point for producers, enthusiasts and visitors, with a programme combining taste experiences, entertainment moments and opportunities to learn more closely about the work and stories behind the production of craft beers and cheeses.
“Fermento is an invitation to look beyond the glass and beyond the cheese board. Beer and cheese are living products, constantly evolving, capable of telling the stories of territories, people and artisan knowledge. With this event, we want to give space to producers, encourage encounters with the public and offer a different way to discover the Valdichiana Senese: through its flavours, its stories and its communities,” says Doriano Bui, President of the Strada del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano e dei Sapori della Valdichiana Senese.
“After the excellent response received during the first edition, Torrita di Siena is pleased to once again open its ancient gates to taste and welcome producers and visitors for a new gastronomic and cultural experience,” comments Roberto Trabalzini, Councillor for Agriculture and Tourism of the Municipality of Torrita di Siena and recently elected President of the Valdichiana Food Community. “Beer and cheese — excellences of which Torrita di Siena boasts an important and long artisan tradition — will certainly be enhanced in the setting of the historic centre, which is easily accessible and ideal for spending a pleasant evening among tastings, music and guided tours.”
There are two ways to take part on 13 June. The heart of the event is the itinerant tasting, scheduled from 6 p.m. to midnight. By purchasing the coupon directly on site, visitors will be able to embark on a route through the streets of the historic centre, tasting pairings of craft beers and cheeses offered directly by local producers such as Caseificio Coveri, Podere Il Casale, Birrificio Saragiolino, Ad-Meata BrewHouse, White Hill Beer, Birrificio BVS and Birrificio Corzano.
In addition, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Fermento will offer, at a cost of 25 euros, the opportunity to take part in a guided tasting session by reservation with Francesco Ranzani, beer expert, and Chiara Carolei, ONAF cheese-tasting master – National Organisation of Cheese Tasters. Through guided tastings and sensory analysis, participants will be able to explore the organoleptic characteristics of the products, learn tasting techniques and understand the criteria behind the creation of harmonious pairings between craft beer and cheese.
Live music will also accompany the event. Dark Street will bring the rock and blues sounds of their repertoire to the village; BadHut will offer a journey through the great pop-rock hits of the Eighties; while the Smoky J. Tones Street Band, with three saxophones, clarinet and drums, will animate the streets of the historic centre with a repertoire ranging from soul, rock and pop to soundtracks and great international classics.
Fermento will also offer the opportunity to discover a lesser-known side of Torrita di Siena with the guided tour “Hidden Torrita – Vertical Farm” on 13 June at 8.30 p.m.. The meeting point is by 8.15 p.m. at the Tourist Office.
The experience will continue on Sunday, 14 June, from 10 a.m., with the opening of local production companies, offering the chance to meet the artisans directly and discover the processes behind the beers and cheeses tasted during the event.
Fermento. Beer and Cheese is organised in collaboration with Vetrina Toscana, the Tuscany Region project that promotes food and wine tourism under the coordination of Toscana Promozione Turistica, supported by Fondazione Sistema Toscana.
Thanks are extended for their support in organising the event to the Arezzo-Siena Chamber of Commerce, Sei Toscana, Terre Cablate, Noi della Notte and Rubeca Motori.
