Camminata tra gli olivi [“Walking through the Olive Trees”] – 1st National Day: trekking with an environmental guide on the footsteps of the Etruscan, Roman, and medieval past of the town of Chiusi. End up with a tasting of typical products at a local farm. Meeting point at the Chiusi’s Tourism Office, in Via Porsenna, at 10.00 am. 4-km trail, with participation free of charge. Camminata tra gli olivi [“Walking through the Olive Trees”] – 1st National Day: a 5-km trail, starting from the Frantoio [Olive Oil Mill] di Montepulciano, in Via di Martiena, at 9.00 am, up to the Church of San Biagio, and then back to Piazza Sant’Agnese. The program of the whole day features guided visits and tastings. In Piazza Sant’Agnese, there will be an info point of Pro Loco[Municipal Tourism Board], a tasting point of Il Frantoio di Montepulciano, and a info point of the Terme di Montepulciano. Other scheduled events: horseback riding, carriage tours, baptism of the saddle with a pony and a carriage at the gardens “Poggiofanti”, and, throughout the day, street food in Piazza Sant’Agnese. “Il tempo dell’olio – giornata dell’olio e della bruschetta” [“Time for Olive Oil – Day of Olive Oil and Bruschetta“]:
9.30 am – Piazza XXIV Giugno – meeting point walking tour through the olive trees (by Crocette Bike and Amateur Sports Club “Serena Mancini”)
10.30 am – 12.30 am – Etruscan Archaeological Museum – tasting of bruschetta topped with “Etruscan Olive Oil”
12.30 pm – Loggia of the Theatre, Piazza XXIV Giugno – back from the walking tour, and tasting of bruschetta
3.00 pm – 6.00 pm – Piazzale Dezzoni Marietti (entrance to the exhibition room) – workshops for kids, and snacks.
A list with the restaurants, which will join the event, featuring themed dishes/menus, will be available at the Tourism Office, located in Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi, No. 9 – Sarteano.
Camminata tra gli olivi – 1° Giornata Nazionale [“Walking through the Olive Trees – 1st National Day”]
At 2:30 pm, enjoy a guided tour to Oliviera “Sant’Andrea”, in locality “Costallaia” – Rigaiolo, with specialized technical staff who will explain the various stages of olive processing, up to the finished product. Afterwards, enjoy a recreational walk of about 5 Kms. through the olive trees, open to everyone, and organized by the Amateur Sports Club “Atletica Sinalunga”, and the Amateur Sports Club “Arezzo Nordicwalking SINW”.
At 4.30 pm, back to Oliviera “Sant’Andrea”, where a buffet-tasting will be offered to all participants.
Mr. Franco Rossi, namely the Vice-President of the Italian Association “Conoscere l’Olio d’Oliva” [“Knowing Olive Oil”] (AICOO), will be present to illustrate the organoleptic characteristics of the product, to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the various olive oils.
There will be also time for a meeting with the company “Biofficina Toscana”, namely a local excellence for eco-biology, which will show alternative uses of olive oil in cosmetics.
