Historic Cellars of Montepulciano
The history of Montepulciano is tightly tied to the production of wine: for this reason it is not difficult to find, in the historical centre, ancient cellars dug into the tufa. And to maintain the centuries old tradition in the city these cellars have not been moved to places where it would be much easier for big transports to move, but instead they are still used for the refining and aging of wine.
For example the historical cellars that can be visited are Contucci, Gattavecchi, Fanetti, Pulcino, Crociani, Cantina del Redi.
