Poliziano theatre
For many centuries, up to the present time, Montepulciano has been the most important cultural centre for the western part
of the Valdichiana. The theatrical activities have been documented from the second half of the XVII century: when it existed
as an Academy (called the Raggirati) that was often called upon by the Municipality to provide various forms of participation
and support with its own performances. Following on from this Academy (from 1706) was the Intrigati, which only recently became
extinct, which was started as a literary Academy and soon developed into an intense theatrical activity, constructing the first
theatre in a space within the Town Hall (1761): this became inadequate, and was demolished, then the Poliziano Theatre was
construction which was a more adequate seat (1793), the construction was completed in 1881 and reopened in the spring of the
successive year.
The Poliziano Theatre remained the property of the Academy until 1978 when it passed on to the Municipality, it has been restored
and brought in line with the current safety laws in force, and is currently home to a winter theatrical season, used for some
of the summer performances of the International Cantiere d'Arte and for many other varied events (conventions etc.)

Civic Museum of Montepulciano
The collections gathered together in the Civic Museum of Montepulciano, which now occupies that which was the 'historic' seat
of the institution, in the fine Neri-Orselli Palace in Via Ricci, where their nucleus was transferred in 1954.
The Palace, one of the rarest examples in Montepulciano that conserves pieces of Sienese civil architecture from the thirteenth
century, it is in reality the result of centuries of deep modification and adaptation of various buildings merged together.
It has a brick and tile façade on Via Ricci of three floors, a beautiful courtyard with a loggia and a well, and
divided internally over three floors one of which is a basement, adapted for exhibition use, with the modern interventions
immediately recognizable: this allows the building to be seen as it was in the past.
The collections present are:

The Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte
The Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte di Montepulciano Foundation, was created on the day of the 3rd November, 2005, having
as founding members the Municipality of Montepulciano and the Province of Siena, inheriting the event called the Cantiere
Internazionale d'Arte di Montepulciano (until 2005 run by the Administration of the Municipality of Montepulciano),
this year arriving at the XXXIInd edition.
What is the Cantiere .The Cantiere is based on the following principals: 1) At the centre of all the activities
there must be a base of communication and an attempt to elaborate and experiment new ways of artistic communication.
Montepulciano is a workshop for young artists offering everyone the occasion to collaborate, and ideally to study and try out
classical and modern scores as well as try old and new ways to make music. 2) Therefore all the concerts and all the musical
and theatrical works are considerate as animation and entertainment for all the inhabitants of Montepulciano and for the nearby
towns, as well as for tourists and lovers of music from all the world. 3) Each participant of the workshop is a guest of the
Municipality of Montepulciano, who helps with the cost of travel and that of accommodation.

The Ricci Palace Music Academy
Their seat is one of the most important
examples of Renaissance architecture by Maestro Baldassarre Peruzzi. Commissioned by Cardinal Maria Ricci and completed towards
the second half of the 1500's, it represents with its simplicity and elegance the style of the era.
It remained the property of the family until 1970, until that year when the heirs did not pay tax to the Montepulciano Community,
then it became the seat of the Musical Academy.
The Academy carries out master classes at an international level, conducted by a majority of both vocal and musical European musical
